Winn-Dixie is set to open in Boynton Beach in November.
The store at 8855 W. Boynton Beach Blvd. is slated to open Nov. 11 at the site of a former Earth Fare grocery store, which closed earlier this year.
Earth Fare announced in February that it would liquidate all of its locations, including two in Palm Beach County, as the specialty grocer did not have enough money to continue operations.
Winn-Dixie will become the anchor at the Cobblestone Commons retail strip in Boynton Beach.
Jacksonville-based Southeastern Grocers Inc. – parent company of Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Más and Harveys Supermarket – announced that four Winn-Dixie locations will open across Florida in November, but the Boynton Beach opening is the only one slated for South Florida.
Winn-Dixie supermarkets are also slated to open at former Earth Fare locations in Jacksonville and Lakewood Ranch, as well as one former Lucky’s Market in Gainesville.
The Boynton Beach Winn-Dixie will provide just under 100 jobs, according to a statement from Southeastern Grocers.
Parent company Southeastern Grocers emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings two years ago. The company recently submitted a draft registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to potentially make an initial public offering (IPO).
